The Skyscraper Museum is devoted to the study of high-rise building, past, present, and future. The Museum explores tall buildings as objects of design, products of technology, sites of construction, investments in real estate, and places of work and residence. Louis Adler, one of the major developers along Seventh Avenue, purchased the site at the southeast corner of 39th Street in 1928 and commissioned a design for this prestigious corner from Ely Jacques Kahn. Kahn custom designed lobbies for his major showroom buildings, often using extensive bronze detail, as is evident on the vestibule doors, elevator doors, grilles, mailbox, and directory board illustrated here.
