The Skyscraper Museum is devoted to the study of high-rise building, past, present, and future. The Museum explores tall buildings as objects of design, products of technology, sites of construction, investments in real estate, and places of work and residence. Mosaic Mixed-Use Development
In the Clinton neighborhood of Manhattan’s West Side, FXFOWLE has designed The Mosaic, a mixed-use three-building development consisting of two towers and a low-rise theater component. Containing 634 apartments and built over an operational train line, the project takes advantage of existing site conditions such as access to light and views as well as creating a mix of uses including residential.
The assemblage of buildings that accommodate residential, cultural and commercial uses. The two 300-unit apartment towers rise above a base inhabited by two separate theater companies, the Ensemble Studio Theater and the Intar Hispanic American Arts Center. Three stories of loft-like apartments are located immediately above the theaters. The residential towers are 24 stories high. Apartments on the upper floors overlook the public open space and take advantage of views to the river and of the midtown Manhattan skyline. This project is under construction and is expected to earn LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
