The Skyscraper Museum is devoted to the study of high-rise building, past, present, and future. The Museum explores tall buildings as objects of design, products of technology, sites of construction, investments in real estate, and places of work and residence. Kyoto Protocol - In December 1997,
the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was held in Kyoto,
Japan and was attended by delegates from 160 countries. A legally binding
agreement, the Kyoto Protocol, was adopted by the countries in attendance,
under which the industrialized nations agreed to reduce their greenhouse
gas emissions by an average of 5.2 percent below 1990 emissions levels by
2010. The USA pledged a 7 percent reduction. Subsequent to the Kyoto meetings,
the US Congress did not ratify the agreement.
